what

String instruments have one great limitation to pressure - the potential to break. in this concept concert, a violist playing Sequenza by Berio, a double bassist playing Trittico by Ferneyhough and a harpist playing a newly commissioned work by Matias Vestergård perform their pieces simultaneously over and over at highest pressure - they will be challenged by loss of strings, and exhaustion. The last performer standing wins.

Why

String breaks are exciting to audiences - the moment of everything failing is the underlying fear that makes great performance exhilarating, like tight rope walking. Thus, let us take performance to that edge on purpose.
